Bio

Rocky Bostick is an international Interdisciplinary Artist and Student of Peace. A graduate of Yale College, Rocky studied at the Yale Schools of Art, Drama, Management, & Music, and majored in Studio Art. He studied Classical Piano at Century School of Music, Northwestern Cherubs, and Peabody Preparatory at Johns Hopkins where he also studied Chamber Music. In several different schools, he pursued Theater, Flute, Music Composition, Painting, Drawing, Photography, Animation, Graphic Design, Dance (ballet, jazz, tap, modern & afri-modern), and Sound Art. He took time off from college to work as an Actor, a Stagehand, a Dancer, a Producer, and a Musician in New York City. Selected credits include: The Negro Ensemble Company (The Picture Box, dir. Charles Weldon), Jazz @ Lincoln Center & at the United Nations (Overcoming the Disaster: Gratitude From Japan to the World), La MaMa ETC (50th Anniversary Season), York Theatre Company (Falling For Eve), West End (Madhouse starring David Harbour), and at City Center Encores! Off-Center (Randy Newman’s Faust, dir. Thomas Kail, In The Heights, Hamilton; starring Randy Newman; and featuring the Broadway Inspirational Voices choir led by Michael McElroy). At Yale, Rocky was involved in the Dwight-Edgewood Project, the Yale Summer Cabaret at the Yale School of Drama, the Yale Institute for Music Theater, the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute, and the Visual Law Project at Yale Law School. Films designed by Rocky have debuted globally. A collaborator on Netflix/Adobe’s short film The Game (Costume Designer + Production Designer), Rocky was also documented in the feature film profiling the realization of three of The Great Untold stories (dir. Nadia Hallgren, First Lady Michelle Obama’s Becoming). Both films premiered in 2022. The feature film Christmas With You (set dresser) premieres on Netflix in 2022 (dir. Gabriela Tagliavini). Produced by 21st Century Fox (Disney), the short film Amsterdam to Anatolia (costume designer) debuted on Netflix in 2021 (dir. Susan Youssef). The feature documentary A Cops and Robbers Story (wardrobe supervisor) was released in cinemas in 2022 and previously appeared at Doc NYC (2020), Big Sky Doc Fest (2021), and the Cleveland International Film Festival (2021), after being workshopped at the Sundance Institute and being featured in The Guardian (dir. Ilinca Calugareanu). The episodic series Now Is Not The Best Time (costume designer) premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival (2021) and played at the Lower East Side Film Festival (2021), and the Sidewalk Film Festival (2021) (dir. Jacqueline Dow). Rocky has founded several initiatives intended to support the flourishing of persons of color &/or lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, two-spirit, gender nonconforming persons &/or disabled persons &/or nonviolent (previously) incarcerated persons &/or senior citizens. All of these initiatives are united by the feeling: “We are for you regardless of your Nationality or Spirituality, as long as you are for harmonious Love.” These initiatives include:  Dreamstorm (facilitator), an Arts & Innovation Incubator;  The Moon Studio (ceo), which produces original Filmic & Theatrical Content;  Seven One Seven (host), a new Podcast “Exploring International Perspectives On.” Previously, he was appointed by to the Howard County (Maryland) Environmental Sustainability Board. He also served as a commissioner on the Howard County Public School System Calendar Revision Committee. He has been published in HuffPost (photographer) and in the Yale Daily News (author, photographer, cartoonist).
